About Powerhouse Deliverance Ministries, Inc.

Elder Theresa Simmons is an anointed preacher of the Gospel. On November 15th, Elder Theresa Simmons was born to the late Deacon Nathaniel and Mary C. Hawkins. She is the youngest of four girls born to this union.

Elder Simmons accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at a young age during a revival conducted at Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church in Washington, DC by the late Elder Herbert B. Chambers.  She held many positions in her local church, sub-district and the Northern District UHC of America.

Her spiritual life began to transition after she married and moved to Delaware. It was at New Pentecostal UHC on October 12th 1997, under the leadership of the late Dr. Louvenia Dickerson where she preached her initial sermon, “It’s An Inside Job.”

In June of 1999, she was ordained an Evangelist under the United Holy Church of America. As she began to hunger and thirst for more of God, she moved her membership to Church on the Rock Min., Inc. where Dr. Marcia Pitts-Jones is the presiding prelate. While under her leadership she was ordained an Elder in November 2009.

Elder Simmons always knew that the call to pastor was on her life. Even though she has faced much opposition, she has never let it deter her from her God-given destiny! The call has been a vision that she has carried for nearly 10 years.  However, on Sunday, August 21st, 2011, the vision came to fruition!! This was the date of the very first church service of Powerhouse Deliverance Ministries, Inc. which was held at the Doubletree Hotel located on Route 202 in Wilmington, Delaware. After only six months of worshipping there, on March 4th, 2012, she and her congregation moved to 13 Millside Drive, Wilmington, De. 19801.  Powerhouse Deliverance Ministries, Inc. is under the leadership of Bishop-elect Larry Bryson, who is the overseer of Kingdom Connections Ministries.

While Elder Simmons has always had a love for God’s Word, she also knew there was so much more to learn. She re-enrolled in the United Christian College Delaware Extension under Dean Alice Martin.  On May 14th, 2011, Elder Simmons received her Bachelor of Theology degree and on May 19th, she received her Master ‘s degree in Theology. On January 5th, 2013 pastor Simmons will begin the Doctorate program to receive her Doctorate Degree in Theology.

Elder Simmons resides in New Castle, Delaware with her husband Deacon Jeffrey Simmons of 25 years also with their handsome son Devon LaMar Simmons, who is currently enrolled in his 2nd year of college.

Her favorite scripture is found in St. Luke chapter 4 verse 18, for this was the spoken Word of the Lord to confirm her entrance into the ministry. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the gospel.”
